A mate & i organized a hunt at an old park in a little rural town today to look for some old coins. it looked so good but had very little in it we spent 1.5 hours hunting & only came up with a couple of 1c pieces the mate went home a little disappointed & i decided to hit the 4 tot lots in town before i went home to i"m glad i did i found $30.35 & a nice 9k gold & pearl pendant.
i was quite surprised at the lack of junk it made it a very nice hunt & at the last tot lot a bloke came up to have a talk about detecting said he had a gold detector & had detected this park wile we were talking i was digging a good sounding target & out pops a 1919 penny the guy started asking all about the Ace 250 then left with that i"m going to buy a new detector glint in his eye. i should learn to stop digging when talking to people it just makes others want to start detecting with an Ace :ranting: .
here"s the pics

Bill i cant help myself i just seam to make people want to buy detectors maybe i should start selling them full time :heh:.

Had a play with the penny on my electrolysis unit. i"v been wanting to try a copper coin to see if i can clean them without stuffing the coin it cleans silver a treat maybe not so good on copper. the penny had seen better days & was very pitted & i think i left it for to long i"ll have to try harder next time.

That's the danger of the hobby. One of these days, I'll learn to wear headphones to distract these folk from getting too curious!

 indeed ! a few weeks back I had a guy follow me around for over 2 hrs , eyeball'n me diggs I showed him all the bullets ect told him I collect em in the end he told me he couldnt understand how I could devote all that time an effort for diggin what he regarded as junk :devil:rrrrr thats the way ...I dug some nice silver 1889 half crown, but with slight of hand was able palm it off as a false signal:lmfao: this guy could talk Osama out of a cave I was glad I had headphones .....You may have created a monster !!

Headphones don't stop them i"v had a couple of times were i had to leave the park just to get rid of someone & ignoring them does"int help they just start talking to themselves :surrender:.
Mick i don't mind a bit of competition they"ll soon get sick of all the empty tot lot after i"v been through there area
Trueblue i don't understand how a person who would"nt spend two hours digging junk would spend two hours watching someone dig junk  that's just soooo funny.

I wish the tot lots up here produced half as much gold as the ones you hunt do. I have found 4 or 5 silver pieces and only one small gold ring and one small pendant piece in the bark chips. You seem to find something great every hunt.

All in favor of LazyAussie changing his name to MotivatedAussie please say Aye.

PS I like the look of old coins right out of the ground and I just give them a quick rinse. Neat old penny!

I don't say nothin to crazy people about aliens they might be a secret agent & drag me of to some government medical facility & use probes on me .
Chris the reason i find lots of gold is that i"m prepared to dig the junk & the amount of tot lots i hit. the day before this hunt i hit something like 17-20 lots + the 4 i hit yesterday that's a lotta lots out of those lots i dug probably 400 targets that were in the gold range out of those targets i got 100 pull tabs about 50-60 coins & a heaps of other bits of junk like tin foil-buttons-bottle tops-bits of aluminum & out of all these targets i found one piece of gold. that sounds really bad.
I am REALLY lazy do i have to get my wife on here to prove it :heh: i warn ya once she gets started telling ya how lazy i am she"ll be hard to stop . seriously i"v got a lovely wife who lets me detect whenever i want ya cant get better than that can ya.
This is the first copper coin i"v cleaned with electrolysis & the only reason i did it was the coin was so corroded & i wanted to try it out i probably wont do it again as it didn't turn out to good.

Yeah I can hear them with my phones on but pretend I can't most of the time if they are an aggravation.. Some little kid was irritating the hell out of me the other day and I was ignoring him. All at once his buddy spoke up and said, " He has earphones on Jeremy, you big dummy, he can't hear you."

I thought to myself, " Oh thank you son."
