What is a quiet signal with the 250 ? do you mean on pinpoint i have just got my sniper and i get so many broken signals like it starts out a bell tone the gets real choppy ... what kind of readings gets you exited when your out?

If you would do the "twitch" you might turn some of those choppy signals into good ones. Remember, the 250 is a motion detector.

thank all
oakman that's the fist time in my life i"v been called a girl :heh:.
Bruce the type of area is a large park. when i researched this site there were old areas 500m ether side of it so lots of people would have walked through it.
it really didn't look like a good spot to hunt it"s out of the way & it has no old trees or buildings just a big grass area.
The coins were from 4 inch to 6 inch deep & the old half penny was around 8 inch deep.
Traviswells i"ll explain a quiet tone- when i get a i get a bouncy signal going from high tone to iron i swing the coil over it real fast a few times ( twitching ) if the tone is mostly high tone ( 6 outta 10 mini swings ) i pinpoint the target if i get a very quiet scratchy signal that has a nice round coin size sound to it i dig if it"s a sharp quiet signal ( to small for a coin ) i leave it as it"s usually a small bit tin foil i run my ACE250 at almost full sensitivity one bar back from full & in all metal.
it"s hard to explain in words i could show you in 2 min & you"d be away i think it"s just the experience you"v had with your detector & being able to understand what it"s telling you. just dig some of those iffy signals one day you"ll dig a nice deep old coin & you"ll understand what i"m talking about.

Ooops! Sorry lazyaussie! I don't know why I thought you were. Truley I didn't mean anything by it.

that's all right oakman i thought it was funny  i"d make one hell of an ugly girl so count your self lucky :heh:

You're doing real well with your detector. I love the 1882 Half penny. What a top find. In fact, you are doing really well on pre-decimals generally. Keep up the good hunts.
Mick Evans.
P.S. I found a couple of Pre-Decimals as well over the break but will post them on Sunday when the family gets back with the finds and cameras.
