And advertisement for the Fisher 1270 states: "high resolution iron discrimination mode that enables you to (See Through) iron trash "
Does it really see through iron trash?
I've heard it goes pretty deep.

It has a iron disc mode that works quite well. It's a fairly deep machine it will hit a 10" dime in my test bed. Which is fairly mineralized ground.

That is impressive.
By "hit" do you mean if you were out swinging your coil at a place you never detected before, and you hit a 10" dime that it would be obvious enough that you would dig it?
Does it hit hard or just barely?

My experience with the 1270 is mixed... ive tried it at one of my farm field sites and found it saw more iron than it saw through... for me it just isnt a good coin hunter in trashy areas, however i use mine to hunt shallow fresh water beaches where the only iron is bobbypins, bottle caps and small stuff in this type of environment i find the 1270 to be excellent as it's very easy to disc out the small iron and dig all signals above small iron..found lots of small gold and silver jewelry this way...oh yeah...

It hits it hard and a definite dig it target if I heard it out while digging.

Well had 4 1266x"s and two 1270's and and the 1270 x comes up ahead and there is some parts to be found in 1 st texas.
