After calling Monte, the vaquero is running smooth as butter today

Monte told me to call him and I did today and he explained several things to me that helped a lot, I put him on speaker phone so he could hear my machine and he helped me GB it. Took it to a field today....it was 31 degrees windy and snowing, but had to figure this thing out! Ran smooth as my compadre today, targets were signing out and found them with no trouble at all. Yesterday I was ready to wrap this thing around a tree, but after a short call to him, and using it today in the iron laden field I feel this will be a nice addition to my field hunting arsenal.

No great finds but like I said this was a field I hunted before with the etrac. I found a small button, no date crusty wheat cent, odd pieces of brass/copper and lead. Absolutely no chirping or falsing either and I had sensitivity on 10. I was just happy it ran just as smooth as the compadre does in fields. I am looking fwd to warm weather now so I can get out there some more! Calling for 4-5" snow tonite :rage:

Glad to hear it is now working for you. Monte is a stand up guy who's shared information has helped a lot of people be better detectorists. :clapping:

well, what was the cause for all the fussing about? i would like to know. what, was the battery in backwards? haha.

Even having had experience with higher-dollar, technical type detectors that have automated GB and auto-tracking circuitry, getting familiar with a new-to-you manual GB model can still be an interesting challenge. You've got it now.

It warmed to 27.2° at 1:29 this afternoon. It's 4:06 right now and the temp is dropping. It's 22.4° and the wind chill is 18.5°, but the sun still has another 20 minutes or so to disappear, then the clear skies turn colder as we're headed to about 9° tonight. Detecting is out for this old phart, but I am reorganizing and adding new material to the AHRPS Library, and already started on some research notes. That's my usual winter-time project.

Best of success to you in the coming detecting season.

Monte

Hey Monte, great job helping him out! You went above and beyond to give someone a hand.

great then. something to be said for reading all of the instruction manual when you get a new one i guess. remember, when coil goes down, tone gets higher. its too positive. coil goes down, tone gets lower or silent. its too neg. glad to hear you guy's sorted it out.

not sure if you saw my other thread, but I traded my x70 for the vaquero, it was a used tesorso and the guy I got it from forgot to send the manual. Still waiting on it.

that why i did not even chime in , this was monties field of expertise and i see he solved the problem, now that you have figured it out it should be simple from now on.

Don't be afraid to adjust the ground balance out in the field especially if you come across an iff signal. Sometimes with just a little ground balance adjust the signal will clean up or disappear. The vaquero was my first tesoro and I am still learning things about it. Good luck with it and show us your finds, TT
