After the Carnies Left the Fairgrounds

We had a small local fair here Saturday, which I attended. I noted where the food stands were parked, and I went back there yesterday morning. What I found was that the carnies apparently did a surface sweep before they pulled out, because all I found was 2" to 4" deep and very corroded. At least I came home with $0.36 more than I left with (if you don't count the $15 worth of gas I put in the car ). No old coins, but one unusual penny with a cross cut out of it.

Carnies make a lot of extra spending cash on the "shakes". Everything used to be eyeball finds but I wouldn't put it past them to be using an inexpensive detector nowadays.
