One thing I should have made allowances for, before being critical, is not knowing details regarding the degree of mineralisation in your particular test spot.
Heavy mineralisation could make your observations valid.
Can you recall the specific audio settings? Particularly those under Tone ID?
I've just done a repeat of the test you described....4 inch nail and coin, separated by about 3 inches, but only able to sink targets to six inches, due to a big root. I daren
