HIt one playground and found a lousy 13 cents. Hit the next one and found one penny so I wandered out into the football field and picked up the rest. Wanted to hunt a little longer but it was geting chilly and late and had to get home and feed momma. Coins were easy pickins there. The field has a thick carpet of grass about 3-4 inches high on a cinder-like base. The coins just drop down to the base of the grass and lay on this cinder base without sinking down much. Just have to pull the grass apart and find them. If they do sink into the base at all retrieval is a cinch with a screwdriver. I just used my probe to pop up the ones that had settled in a bit. I'll have to hunt it again when I have more time.

I like the sound of that cinder base! Does your detector react to it?
