just found out my sister-in-law is out her job after 11 years; though SHE left them, there wasn't much choice in the matter. She was an information operator for Verison. Her job was to answer calls for information, sounds pretty simple, except that Verison expects that every call can be completed in 18 SECONDS! That's not a typo, 18 SECONDS!! That comes out to between eight and nine hundred calls per shift! She was caught going 3 minutes over the allowed limit helping an elderly women, and given a seven day suspension. Never a problem in 11 years, seven days without pay. She said that they have been trying to get people with seniority to leave for the last few years by offering a modest severance package, but at only 55 she was too young to retire. Then a couple of her friends at work, with 10 and 15 years between them, got fired for minor infractions, and she felt she had to take their offer and leave. If they fire you you get nothing. So, suspended for actually helping a customer, targeted because of having seniority and forced to leave. That is what big business thinks of it's American workers. F$#@^!!
Government of big business, by big business, for big business, that is what we have today. It's all gone to hell.
