I picked up my first IH. It's not pretty but most of it looks OK and I can read the date , 1864. This one was down there too. I'd guestimate that most of the oldies I've found have been in the 6-8" range (some deeper).
Considering the age of the last coin I found there (300 plus years old). I'm going to be hunting this park for a long time. Not that many targets and it's very tough to hunt (lot's of dead brush, thorns and dead branches on the ground). Lots of roots too. I'll have to sharpen up my Lesche Raptor to get through them easier, but it works pretty well; just tough digging. Don't want to be seen with a shovel in there....
I ordered a Garmin hand held GPS (etrex legend), so I can get coordinates of where I've found stuff. I'm looking to plot that on Google earth plus. In the last 300 plus years, someone HAD to drop on silver or gold coin
I'm thinking that there were particular paths used, camping areas. From memory, I cans see where most of the finds have been located but I haven't hunted but a very small portion of this place.
