Almost Got Skunked!

Went to the beach to hunt in the warm wee hours as it is really serene, my favourite kind of hunt. The weather was cooler this week so there wasn't as many swimmers this time out to deposit their booty. The beach machines and other detectorists pretty well cleaned up the beach. Still undaunted I detected for 5 hrs with only 35 cent to show! I needed to sit down for a spell to rest me ol' bones, so I sat on one of those long line of logs rows running parallel with the shore for the beach patrons. I gazed out towards the calm sea ,out at the lights of the anchored freighters in the bay and the ski hill above it. The lights on the mountain looked like a diamond necklace wrapped around the ski runs twinkling in the dawn.
My meditation was abruptly broken with a blurry movement,it was a black and white shimmying type waddle that was heading right towards me in the corner of my eye! Oh no skunk yikes I silently screamed!! He was doing his nightly fastfood hunt up and down the logs, just as I was for coins. I wondered if he could smell me as I him and veer around me? No sir ,he kept coming towards me and then finally at my feet by this time I surely didn't want to startle him, so I sat frozen there like a wooden cigar store Indian!
He crawled over my feet, put one front paw on my shin and sniffed me out, sniffed out my coil, whirled around and OH OH I thought, this is it! Then he resumed at more sniffing of my feet and then toddled off down the long line of logs for something a little more delightful to his nose. Whew that was close I thought!
Well undaunted as I said earlier, I notices the tide was unusually low at 1 foot so I waltzed the MH7 around the swim float which was now high and dry from the receded tide. In less than an hour I found an Irish Solvar Sterling Silver Celtic ring and a 20 diamond star earring or pin. ROOHOO!:hot:
