Almost time to cash in the clad for Gold !!!

Ed (Upstate NY)

Active member
Every year I save up my clad coins and once the detecting season ends I cash them in and use to proceeds to purchase a gold coin. This year I've dug over $230.00 worth of quarters, dimes, nickels and memorial cents. Looks like I should have enough to buy another Coronet Type $10.00 gold coin. December 2 will be the next coin show in the area so I still have a few more weeks to hit the parks and schools to add to the total. I love this hobby !!!

How do you clean those quarters? They look very clean.
Al

Bought it from KCO last year for about $60-70.00. I just add about a cupfull of aquarium gravel to the barrel, add water, laundry detergent and up to about 75 clad coins. I tumble them for 12 to 24 hours depending how tarnished they are. Most come out great but sometimes there isn't much you can do for the real nasty ones.

When Ed and Chuck are done in their parks with all the Indian Head penny's and mercury dimes,I'll head over and get the older stuff. My sites are nearly drained of the 1700's coins.May be time to go head into New Harlem and get some of the newer stuff.I'd have you come up Ed,but pickens are real slim lately.I bet i've found less than twenty Lg Cents this year.Had over 100 old coppers each of the last 3 years.May have to head farther North.Dave

I've got 4 this year and Charles maybe a half dozen. Me and Charles have been saying for 2 years now that we have to get out of the parks and into some cellar holes or farm fields to get some colonials. Did you hit the fairgrounds at all this year? I'd still like to try the Explorer up there.

Got a new 1833 lg ct last week at a cellar hole.Only one there however. One of my friends bought the fairgrounds.Grass was to high however. We can hit it in the Spring after snow melts.Been using the 1400 coil a lot lately.Found a wheaty at 12" last week, some half dollar size stuff at 15-17" range. That sucker goes deep.Did you try one yet.Bob had some for $75.00.Dave
