Yesterday, our brother, Larry, came and picked up Cliff and I in his car and we headed down to pick up our sister, Carolyn, 15 miles south of Rolla. We then went to Salem to view some property that Cliff and I were interested in seeing and maybe buying. A trailer and 10 acres of land with possibility of buying 9 more acres...which didn't pan out because we decided it was too far into the boonies or sticks as we hillbillies say!
That was the situation I wanted you to pray about, for God's will to be done! And it was His will for us......just wasn't what we needed to buy!
Now, for the many blessings during the rest of the day. We left the boonies and stopped in town at Zonics and had some good eating. Zonic burgers, onion rings and milkshakes (yummy, yum-yum) which Larry paid for and he paid for the gas to fill his car. Almost $40.00 at $2.99.9 a gal. Had dropped under $3.00, as it had been $3.14.9 just a few days before, so for Larry that was a blessing with a few pennies saved!
We then went to Bunker so Cliff could see how the school had changed since he last saw it....remember he hadn't been in MO for years and years, except when Mom passed away but didn't get to visit places.
After seeing the(big)town of Bunker, we traveled down BeeFork road and saw beautiful new homes that had been built all along the country gravel road, so some people have more money than when we lived on the farm, as most lacked money then! Just poor farmers!
We passed the BeeFork Fish Hatchery where my dad used to work and we kids gathered small plants in bunches for a penny a piece for Beldt's Aquarium who owned the hatchery. Then we went on down to our old farm and the couple who own it were home and so nice that all four of us had an enjoyable time reminencing about the farm and they enjoyed the history we gave them. They've fixed the home up until it is so lovely and gave me some hints on maybe how to fix the inside of mine with different kinds of painting ideas. They invited us all back whenever we can come. Don't know when that will be at this time or whether the four of us will be together to visit again!
After leaving there, we went on down the creek (BeeFork) and stopped at the cemetary where mom and dad and most of our relatives are buried. Then we went up the steep hill on the newer road and drove by Fletcher's Lead Mine owned by St. Joe Lead Company and took the road to where my grandmother (dad's mom) used to live in an old log cabin but we couldn't get back into the area to see if it is still standing. The MO Corp of Engineers own all of the land now and have a camping area at Sutton's Bluff on the West Fork River.
((I took my first swim there when I was about a year old....dad was pulling me in a small boat he had tied to his waist and mom was hoaging for fish under large rocks. She looked up and saw me step out of the boat and hollored at dad who reached down under the water and pulled me out. He said I didn't even cry----just sniffed a couple of times as he placed me back into the boat.))
We went swimming and fishing a lot there when we were children growing up. But had a hot and dusty ride going back home, if a car or truck would get in front of us and stir up the dust, so we were dirtier when we arrived home. Too hot to close windows....as we had no a/c back then.
We stopped by the cemetary across from the road that led to grandma's house (which have her, Uncle John and his two wives graves only) We will have to go back when we are able to and clean it....sure is growing up with sapplings and needs a new fence.
After stopping at the camping bathrooms, we proceeded up the hill and got to 21 Highway to 49 Highway, which we took until we got to 32 Highway going to Salem again. We stopped at Zonics for more onion rings and shakes and Cliff ate a Banana Split. (Larry paid again plus tip) Then we took 72 Highway through Rolla to I-44 to take Carolyn back home! Got her there and left and took I-44 back to St. Louis.... a looooong and tirrrring ride. Very sleepy and almost sick when arriving home...went to bed right away and Larry went on back to his house. Sure hope he wasn't too tired and made it okay, as he did ALL the driving.
We had a very enjoyable time for a really nice, sunny day but almost did this ole gal in. Also Cliff! He said he had done that much traveling in one day in a long time! Will be paying Larry back some of the money (although he doesn't want me to) because he isn't even working right now...just his wife....but he is a softie and sooooo kind hearted that he hurts himself financially most of the time but he trusts in the Lord and is blessed a lot.
Well that was our day and why I'm overly tired and ill. My headache and nausia have eased up making it easier to write about our adventure for the day.
Was hot sleeping with just windows open the last few nights, so called the A/C man to get our new one put in but they are three weeks behind and busy, busy and busier. He was so kind though and came out and checked our old one and put freon in it without charging extra and it is nice and cool in here now. Will be better sleeping tonight for sure!!!!
He is placing us on the board to get to as soon as possible and will be mailing 1/2 of the money to him. He said if I were an Atheist he would make me pay him then but being a Christian is why he came out to help us get cooler! Thank You, Lord!!!
The new RUUD A/C with new lines, condensor coil, humidifier, and two new digital thermostats plus cleaning both furnaces (I have one that just heats the basement) will cost $4400.00. Kind of expensive but lots of new stuff being replaced as the old Whirlpool was installed in the early 80's by my former husband....he was a Laclede Gas worker....but retired in 1998.
Well, like I said the blessings were many and I Praise You, God, and Thank You, Jesus, for each one of them and even in my sickness because of Your goodness and mercies.
Sorry this is so looooonnnnnng but you know me, I write, write and write some more!

God Bless & Happy Hunting to all!
