the war but I never realized it was so huge. He has a bad arm and could not get in the Army

He survived 30 bombing missions over Europe.

He died 4 yrs. ago ...Lou Gehrig's Disease.

I didn't even know about it until his death at the age of 86 a few years ago. This was the write up he got in the paper for his obituary.

When I see wonderful historic videos like this one, it actually makes me equally sad as it does proud.... Hear me out. It makes me think of what a huge powerhouse manufacturer the USA WAS... We made everything!!!! We had a solid proud blue collar worker who could do anything... In 1941 we were pumping out one of those every 55min... Now that's amazing given the technology of the day... Can you think of anything even remotely coming close to that being made today that can honestly display the "Made in USA" label. We've turned into a nation of consumers instead of a nation of producers... Doesn't bode well for future generations I fear.

now they are just another greedy form of "lobbyist" that takes money from the blue collar worker in order to try to buy a position in the White House so that they can continue to force THEIR Liberal agenda on all of us. I saw some figures at one time that the average
G.M. employee was making about 71,000 per year with the inclusion of benefits. That's a lot of dough for someone just turning a torque wrench. The retirement benefits were insane as well......... anyway, I don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers but that , in my most humble opinion, is why we can't do it any more. Imagine, if you will, producing one single B-24 Liberator with today's unions at the helm. Even with 1940's technology, that aircraft would cost billions of dollars.

If I was a union member, I'd be real upset with the fact that my union leaders spent billions of dollars during the last 2 election cycles. That money could have been better spent on it's members from where it was collected.

times but he never mentioned it to me. I had not seen him in years. So much is missed by the young when they don't talk to the old people
