My father and three of his brothers served in WWII my dad in the army, his next youngest brother Gene in the navy in the pacific piloted an LST on 7 invasions and spent the rest of the war on a floating dry-dock, uncle William was in the marines in the pacific. Daddy said his first day after being delivered by boat was a twenty mile march on a road that the RAF had straffed a complete division of nazis, twenty miles of dead oxen, horses, nazis, dying nazis, oders were given to deliver a "coup de gras" to the wounded, he tells us this was the worst day of his life, conversley though, he states that he came back with only three bullets missing from his ammo belt, one was for a deer he shot when his group was caught in a "pincers movement" for days and they almost starved, two years living in Munich before returning home. Not pictured my moms brother Jack Fischer was in the 1st armored division under Patton and started out in Africa and traveled through Italy to every major battle in that country, Anzio, Sicily, Mt Casino........two bronze stars, he recieived disability for shellshock but my mom says he was like that before the war, these are real americans that are proud to have served our country, we should never forget the cost of freedom.....fred
