Hello all,

I'm new to the forum so hello. I would like to tell you a little about myself and praise Jesus for the gifts he has given me.

I was brought up right and I always felt that Jesus had some difficult work for me to do. After school I joined the Police and during that 10years I stayed very strong with the lord and he kept me safe during my career through some testing times and some downright terrifying experiences. Sometimes I came across people who I could feel the evil power beaming off them like heat. On these occasions I felt the power of the lord shine out from behind me and overcome the evil. during my police days I helped a lot of people and did a lot of good.

A couple of years after the police I let myself drift away from that close relationship I had with god and I found myself in an unhappy marriage, a boring job and feeling like I had done my work and I was just waiting to die. In a deep depression and with some emotional scars from the police days I found myself fishing one day near a local weir. A young boy who was swimming upstream got washed over the weir and was trapped in the surging water below. His father saw it and was on his way but the boy was sucked under and did not come back up. His dad was going to take too long to get there so I had to go in after him. I eventually found him and brought him to the surface. we were doing fine but still trapped and getting sucked under about every 20 seconds or so. The boys dad got there and when the boy had hold of both of us I got pushed under and breathed in some water. After that I was in trouble. some 5 or 6 minutes later I was sucked under for what I thought was the last time. Completely exhausted I could not move my arms any more and I gave up. I relaxed and started talking to god in my mind. Next thing I was filled with a great feeling as if I was on drugs or something. I felt so good I didn't care that I was sinking and the water was getting darker. Then I bumped into a large rock. It was totally dark now but I grabbed the rock and thought 'one last effort' I pushed up and made it to the surface. I had a little more energy now but I didn't think I could take getting sucked under again. As I was getting sucked back to the wall of water a rubber raft, a childs toy was dropped down in front of me. I grabbed it and I knew that Jesus had saved me. The boy who threw the raft at me had saved me too I suppose. The father and the boy grabbed on as well and about 15 minutes later we got ourselves out of the swirling water and on to the bank.

The young boy who got washed over felt like it was all his fault. But I think all this happened for my benefit. Now, 12 months later, I realise that god does have further work for me to do. My marriage is going great, my daughter is my pride and joy and I feel like I have a purpose.

I even got a new hobby. METAL DETECTING.

The lord works in mysterious ways alright .... Praise be to Jesus.

Dicko..
