The site (linked below) includes the names and acronyms of various fraternal organizations and secret societies that provide such markers for your referencing, including the 11 recognized U.S. conflicts (dates and abbreviations) warranting War Veteran status.
Maybe you can keep it somehow for future referencing.
There was a time when many folks would take these items to keep or even pawn as scrap metal. Thus the strict Federal law against even simple possession of these artifacts. Some of these can still be found at old home and farm sites. If found, while detecting, you should turn it over <STRONG>immediately</STRONG> to an appropriate VA office or Organization that originally provided the marker or plaque. Don't forget and get "caught" with one!
