An F-75 LTD find, CS belt plate

Just found out that I made one of the Best Finds for 2015 in W&E Treasures magazine. Received a certificate and complimentary copy in the mail the other day. This was the best find I have ever made. In the same area, I found a Block C button also, with the Courney & Hinnant backmark, in outstanding condition.

Is that like the belt clip I have for my 1280-X detector or some kind of special clip? Just wondering! I am assuming it is something special, but I don't know what it is. As you can tell, I am a newbie to all of this.

Fjs,

Since no one has answered your question, I will, Its a buckle they used give away in boxes of cereal years ago, they were called "Cocoa Seeds", hence the letters "CS". If you find one like it, feel free to send it to me and I will send you $5. That all their worth.

RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT !!! I think someone is yanking my leg. Cocoa Seeds ??????

You made me research it and then it made sense. That IS a great find. I have seen "CSA" in the past, but "CS" did not register.

I went out this morning to a beach on Lake Erie. I found two corroded pennies and a bunch of aluminum. I like your finds much better than mine.

Ha, and I like your finds better then mine this morning. Zilch, Nada, nothing. Rain and looks like we are socked in into Sun. Good luck everyone, there are still some goodies out there just waiting to be dug. HH jim tn

Having some fun 440, not trying to be disrespectful, most here were crying on the floor cause we didn't find that buckle. Thats a high dollar item besides, also you said you found 2 pennies and aluminum, have you planted a coin garden? if not I would suggest you do, you will learn quickly what to ignore depth wise really fast. I start at about 6 inches down with a silver dime and drop an inch at a time with silver dimes, not a quarter, a dime, its smaller, harder to detect, if I can find the dime the quarter is a cinch. Not the other way around. Drop a rusty nail in with one of the dimes at 6 inches, see what happens..............anyway the offer still stands for the cocoa seed buckle!

Big-ears--------I want to put in a test garden this year -------Could you send me some dimes???????????------after1---------

I love this forum. it makes me smile.

I am learning with my new F70. If it gets solid signal, I am digging. Always have, always will. With my "old" F2, that is how I found the gold rings, which gave me the money to buy a F70. I also found pounds of trash. I would be rich if aluminum was worth anything.

Using my F70, I am also finding some very deep pop cans that were not noticed by my F2. The park ranger walking with me today was also laughing about the aluminum cans. He though that maybe the metro parks should pay me for cleaning up their beach.

I enjoy the peace and quiet of this hobby. I just want to find a gold ring with some "ice" on it.

Good hunting everyone.

Have you noticed the jumping I do from topic to topic? Very old brains do that. I would like to be young again, but my body could not take it.

I wonder how many edits I will make to this posting. :spin:

Thanks for the comments. Cocoa seeds...that is good. Confederate States belt plate is much better. I have hunted many, many years in this area, about 27 to be exact, and I finally found one. Price tag: $3000. I had also found a Block C, backmark of Courtney & Hinnant, right near where I found the buckle. That was a $650 find, as that backmark is the rare one out of Charleston, SC. I am afraid I tend to be the one who finds many pennies and aluminum too. I just happened upon a Union Camp and struck it big. Lots of stuff came out of this small area, including 5 eagle buttons, a Dragoon and a Connecticut State Seal button. I also found a cool Wilmington & Manchester RR tag. Good stuff. I hope lightning strikes again soon because I don't think I will be around another 27 years!
