An interesting way of finding things...

Pete in MI

using whatever search engine you use in the blank space insert the following:
index of /MI

you can replace the MI with the abbreviation for your own state.

The search engine now checks subdirectories for any subdirectory with a /MI in it. For me one of the sites that came up had a list of jpg and gif files. I looked at a few and these are old black and white photos...mostly nature but some with pics of people (women in there wide brimmed hats, long dresses...kinda like the 1800s atire).

Checking futher I found a text document that states where each and every one of those pictures was taken!

A little browsing around I soon found that this main site that these pictures are on is the Library of Chicago website.

Would be reall interesting to find where all these people dressed up pretty were sitting for their 'staged' photograph.

Anyway, using the index of / and adding anything you want after it will find you lots of things you would not have found before... try your own metal detector.... index of /garrett
index of /whites etc.

Even better for you researchers.... try /maps or /1895 or /plat or /yourcounty

Get the idea?

Have fun...oh one word or warning...be sure you have your search engine set to not show adult stuff...
