bars because every time he does, he gets in a fight. Now I find that odd.
I have been going in bars for many years and never get in fights. Not in many years.
I used to do a lot of country dancing. Three or four nights a week for years. That was when I was married to that crazy horse woman <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt="

"> After we divorced I would hang out at another country bar for something to do on Friday and Saturday night.
I never got in a single fight. I really don't know why, unless it is the fact that I don't look for them and don't see a person bumping into me as an insult. I usually just laugh it off and say excuse me.
It might be because I am older and they don't want to kill me <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt="

"> but I have not always been old. I just don't get upset easily if I have been drinking and never considered fighting fun. At the time it sure can be but win or lose, the next day, I hurt.
I had lunch yesterday with a buddy, Steve. He likes to tell the story to anyone that will listen that the night we met he had come to the bar to kick my ass. It was over a woman thing, I was dating the cousin of the woman he was divorcing and all he heard about was Royal this and Royal that. You know how it goes.
He said he and a buddy came to the bar to kick my ass. I had not done anything but he just didn't like hearing about me.
He said he asked around to find out if Royal was there. I was playing pool and was pointed out to him. He said he laughed to see what an old bastud I was and even though his buddy tried to talk him out of he, he was gonna kick my arse.
I was playing pool and was having a good night. Usually the winner stays on the table and the game is for a beer but I never played that way. A guy challenged me and I automatically bought them a beer. I will not bet. Pool is fun for me and I could usually beat most, if I kept it for fun. This worked for me and kept the anger down on the table.
I guess Steve challenged the table and when he and I played he swears that he tried to pick a fight with me, subtlety I guess. I always tell him that he is not worth a crap at picking a fight because I never knew it! <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> That is the truth!
He laughs and tells everyone that he came to the bar to kick my arse and ended up being friends ever since. We still are.
I swear I don't even remember the incident.
In my view, most people that get in fights consistently in a bar, are looking for it or their ego's get in the way.
Heck, I remember one night a guy, a drunk punk, came up to me in that same bar, at the pool table and belligerently told me that his buddy bet him that he could not whip my arse. I guess I should have been scared or something. I just laughed and told him that his buddy was nuts because he looked like a mean old boy but he would look silly wupping an old man like me. I guess my not taking offense and maybe the fact that on closer inspection I had 60 lbs on him settled him down. I bought him a beer and we were friendly ever after.
My buddy that never goes to a bar because he always gets in a fight just looks for a reason to fight in my view.
Now I try two things and it usually works. First I intimidate and if that doesn't work, I negotiate <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
Heck, now days I hurt BEFORE a fight, I don't have to wait for the next day <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">
