Anybody out there familiar with the Barracuda PI detector? What are thoughts on the best PI detector at this time? Whites, Fisher, Tesoro, Garret.....
I borrowed a Whites Surfmaster PI that last time I was on vacation near a beach (4-5) years ago. Had a lot of fun with it and I certainly dug lots of deep coins.

I've used a Barracuda briefly. They work well, I think on par with a Surfmaster PI that's been modified by Mr. Bill from what I've heard. It does go deeper than my currently-stock Surfmaster PI. If I ever get around to it I'll ask Mr. Bill to modify mine and then I'll have the more sensitive, more powerful machine.
As far as the best PI around? I also have a Deepstar, and as far as depth and sensitivity to small gold, I think it's the best. I compared mine to a local guy who has a Minelab SD2200 and they were very close in depth, with an edge to the Deepstar I believe on gold and nickels. The Aquastar is similar but in a waterproof housing. Build quality on these units is second to none. Support from Eric (designer/builder) and Mr. Bill (importer/dealer) is also second to none.
Good luck...

Hi Rich:
I have never used a Barracuda, but I have used a C-Scope CS7, Tesoro Sand Shark, and I briefly tried out a Deepstar (thanks Jeff) one time. Of those three the Deepstar will definately find the deepest stuff. The Sand Shark is well built, waterproof, and has a lifetime warranty (doesn't cover damage from water intrusion). The CS7 costs a little more and detects a little deeper than the Sand Shark.
Keep in mind that there is no perfect detector for everyone. One must take into account the detector's abilities, the user's needs, abilities, and experience, and the user's budget.
I currently have the CS7. I felt that it was right for me. It detects deeper than the Sand Shark and it is not as expensive as the Deepstar. I originally wanted an Aquastar, but I felt that it was too expensive for a detector that would sit in the closet for the six cold and wet months out of the year (But if I lived in Hawaii things might be different. Hmmmm...., Hi Terry)
My vote is for the CS7.
Now lets hear some more opinions.
Happy Hunting.

What size coil did you have on the shark and how many inches deeper did get cs7 get?
