ON MY BICYCLE,NOT THE MOTORCYCLE...This morning;I was ridin my bicycle as part of my fitness program...i was riding in town-AGAINST the flow of traffic,as required by a bicyclist-I came up to a blind corner, and a guy was turning right on the corner toward me,and he took the turn short-CUTTING ME OFF COMPLETELY-...My choices were the front-end of the van;or a 10 inch curb-I took the curb.Bike hit curb-bike stopped,I didnt-right over the handlebars onto the sidewalk I went.If there was an Olympic competition in freestyle bicycle crashing,I would have won hands down for technique, execution and style-It would have brought tears to the judges'eyes.I can honestly say that I have crashed on SOFTER surfaces.Skinned up my left knee and hurt my right wrist, thats all.If anything else;I have learned that for a almost 53 year old man,I must be in pretty good shape to hit the sidewalk and come up laughing about it. The guy in the van stopped;at least-it WAS his fault;after all.He apologized all over the place, and ya know what??I didnt say ONE WORD about him being in the wrong-I guess I was too busy performing a damage assessment on my hide.

everytime he rode his bicycle when he was a kid, he'd come home banged up, carrying or dragging his bicycle or pushing it if it would push...he was always an accident waiting to happen..and he did. Probably spent more on bandaids than we did clothes for him

In fact my 2nd son refused to learn how to ride a bicycle after the older brother had so many accidents.

Oh BTW if memory of law serves...you ride a bicycle WITH the flow of traffic but if you are walking you walk AGAINST (facing) traffic.

Then there are those who ride their bicycles in the middle (left turn) lane on a 3 or more lane street.

I am glad you are ok and it wasn't the motorcycle.

Here's a great video for anyone with a bicycle to view:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdrrxIpQpt4&mode=related&search=

Its from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
(And yup it says to ride with traffic.)

Glad you are ok Steve.

..I have been informed that when WALKING;you walk AGAINST the flow of traffic; When on a BICYCLE,you ride WITH THE FLOW of traffic...Had I been on the RIGHT side instead of the LEFT side where I was this morning,I would not be nursing bruises and lamenting over missing skin...I guess its true:I AM my own worst enemy;and I stand corrected on this issue...NOW:I just hope I have healed enough to take my Bikes(Bicycle and motorcycle)on vacation this Friday.....

someone would have got that on video! You might have won $10,000 Just kidding! I am glad you are ok Steve! :)
