Hi, first of all i want to say I'm a great fan of XP Detectors, in fact I sold my loved Minelab Explorer to buy a Deus and I can say I'm glad with the decision. XP metal detectors are great machines and do the job pretty well but what i don't like of XP is the "extra" or optional accessories, IE.:

Single battery emergency charge cost over 20$ and you can get one of them at the big "E" or in china stores for less than 3$....and It's the SAME!
Wrist support for headphone control unit...over 30$ (Plus the headphone adaptor)....useless, who wants a wire hanging from the wrist? me no thanks.
Waterproof bag......take a look again at the big "E".....

And now the plastic case......I got one for free from a AKG mic set.....

But that's only my opinion.....

Yes, you can buy items from other sources but understand that the old adage "You get what you pay for" often comes into play.

The waterproof pouches are a perfect example. Several of us bought some of those cheap models from the "Big E" and they all came from China. Before putting the control unit inside and venturing into the water, we tested them by putting an old cassette into each and submerged them in 4 feet of water for an hour or two . . . and in each case, there was water inside (some more than others but enough to have damaged the $$$ control unit). XP's team released a product that won't leak and to be honest, I am not ready to risk a high-dollar item on something that claims to be waterproof.

As far as your perceived value or need of some of the accessories . . . .well, to each their own. The accessories you say you have no need for are in fact popular so others must find them useful.

Any of the manufacturers offer accessories that one can make something else fit and do the same thing - more or less. Convenience is a factor in buying as is the support of the company but if you can find something that works for you, then go for it. If you look at what some of the other companies charge for accessories, you will see XP is not out of line.

So true Andy!! By the way, when is the hard case going to be available?

We will be carrying them but I hate to take orders contingent on a shipment clearing customs based on some past delays . . . . let me know if you are interested in one and I can let you know as soon as we get confirmation of their arrival into the US.

When they are available.. I would take one..

Will they be able to have the WS 5 headphones as well in the case.. or will those be a 'carry on'

Micheal

I'd jump on one of these were it of carry on size but as currently designed, its too large for that. :(

Just got my case. I don't see how three coils could fit. The foam is cut for the 9" and 13" but the 11" could fit where the 13" goes, but not all 3 as was mentioned in Andy's announcement. I also found that the cut for the telescopic stem was a little short where the cup portion fits. It had to be forced in and you can see it in the picture I am attaching. I tried taking a picture of the front of the cup but it doesn't represent the gap so I am not including it. Other than these issues the case is well made.

I decided to directly to Deus to resolve my questions. They were very nice and responded with pictures and video to answer my questions about the best way to put the stem in the case and how to get the third coil in. I have enclosed a pictorial of the best way to put in the stem and I wanted to include a short video which shows the way to get all 3 coils into the case but can see no way to upload it (.mov file).
