The old park would not give up any silver today, but I did dig some nice junk! Don't know how old that bullet is, but it has two rings on it.
Also found several wheat's. 17D, 18S, 19, 19, 21 and 34. One of the 1919 wheat's was on edge standing vertical in the sidewall of the hole I dug. I thought there were more than one coin in the hole when I started, but there was just one, and some iron of course. Where there is wheat, there is silver. The wheat's that come out of this park are always old.
I spent some time checking out different areas of the park. This place has quite a bit of potential given the barbers I have found here recently. The park is about 17 acres, so it will take some time to cover. I look for the larger trees, but the are scattered all over the park.
Stopped by the local historical society on the way out of town. It was open and they actually had a display on the history of this park. Found out where a very large old building used to stand that hosted many weddings over the years. Also learned when some of the things were added, such as the ball diamond in the 40s. They also had photos of the park. One was of a fireman's picnic from 1932 and there must have been 500 people in that picture. Pretty interesting.
