Another bark chip first - an Italian centennial commemorative coin

Stopped at a tot lot for about ten minutes on the way to the store and stumbled across this coin. Although it's 20 years old it looks uncirculated and in tiny letters under the head is the name of the fellow on the coin. On the back in tiny letters and numbers down by the rim appears to be serial number of sorts. Never seen a coin with a number like that. I asume this is Italian and it's a 200 Lira coin. The detail on the back is stunning. This must have come from someone's collection Have no idea what it is or what it may be worth but I like it. Found a Rosco ring, a dime, and some pennies but won't show those.

Nice find Bill. I have found interesting, but not necessarily valuable, coins in the bark tot lots from Euros to UK 20 pence pieces. You never know!!

When I was in Italy (1986) it was almost 1800 Lira to the dollar. 30,000 Lira would buy a nice dinner and drinks for 4 hungry and thirsty sailors. Our standard tip was 10,000 and some waiters would refuse it because they thought we were showing off. It was less than 2 bucks a man. Sheesh. The dollar wasn't in the tank back then like it is today. Real nice find!

Yeah but the dollar is making a little comeback now which is why gold, silver, oil, is dropping. Wonder what 200 Lira is equal to in our money today - maybe a nickel?

Yeah that gold and silver religious pendant with a small diamond I have posted pics of came out of the chips. You never know, just like the three silver halves I snatched out of the chips the other day.
