got a full day in today with the omega in a couple of civil war house sites. One site was a site I had never hunted but it did produce 14 .58 caliber minnie balls, a eagle button, a carved pencil, a butt plate off a Springfield, a craved nipple protector, old brass spoon, melted lead and such. Nothing deep though maybe 7 inches max.
No what I'm noticing is this thing loves flat iron like busted kettles and plow points and such also eats up crown caps ought to be good on tin back buttons.
Now I like a detector that hits flat iron and such that was one of the things about the t-2 I didnt like it I'D'ed iron too good.
the Omega handles nails fine but loves flat type thick iron calls it 80 on flat iron but it does squeal on it.
I wouldnt have dug the butt plate with the t-2 the mxt yes t-2 no so I like that.
One thing that concerns me is the conductors in the 40-49 range sometime if there not round wont read but one way.hate to leave a deep spur.It will do it!I almost left a few pieces today in that range till I learned what it was doing. Question is why is it doing it at all? Might not be a good jewelry hunter if you want chains? I dont know I dont look for that stuff but I know lots of relics hit in the 40's and all relics are not round.
Need some info on why its doing this.
