Another decent hunt at an old farm

saw this house up for auction, called the realtor and found the owner. He told me it was fine to hunt it before it sold.

There was very little signals in this yard, one of the cleanest farm houses I have ever MD'd managed 19 wheats, 1939 silver quarter, misc relics....

thought I had a silver dime when I saw this play coin in the dirt clod, but it was just a play coin, marked on the back western stamping co.

19 Wheat's and a silver Quarter :yikes: The badge and the old razor are pretty neat finds all so!

first and foremost is congrats all those finds. A great assortment of coins and "relics". It never ceases to amaze me how many harmonica reeds there are out there, buried in the ground. I swear, everyone must have played the harmonica back in the day. But secondly, and even more important than those nice finds (in my eyes), is the fact that you made the effort to find a place to hunt. Lots of folks get into this hobby thinking it will all be a "walk in the park". Literally. They spend a few days looking through the local park and school yard, becoming more and more disappointed with the lack of coins and the abundance of pull tabs and screw caps. Soon thereafter, they determine there aren't any places to hunt that haven't been "beat to death". So they stick their detector in the closet or list it for sale. In truth, the world is full of places just like you found. It is a matter of using your head and putting in the effort to obtain permission. I'd bet if you visited again that Realtor, he would provide you dozens of listings, similar to the one you hunted. I've struck a deal with a couple local Realtors where I locate the property stakes in return for letting me hunt the yards. Buyers always want to know where the property line is! And the "trade" works well for me! Again, congrats on your hunt. HH Randy

Man what a pretty place to hunt. You have got some unhunted places looks like. What part of the country are you in? I've got some super places like that to hunt here in Ga. but I have to wait until it gets cold and the grass dies. I don't want to leave any scars on the lawns and with it so dry here now it would. I'll start a thread for old places like the one you hunted and all of us can post some pics. I'm guessing you had the 3khz coil on........That thing pulls pennies like a kirby vaccum cleaner. BTW what did the wheats TID at in your ground? You got it goin on man, good hunt there.

Congrats on the very nice hunt! You scored some real nice finds! Wheats, silver, and some cool stuff. Good job, Beale.

the shallow wheats 3-5" read 34-38
the deeper ones 6+ inches still give me a reading of 42-44, not sure why, I keep thinking I am gonna get silver and it turns out to be a wheat
yes I was using the 3khz coil

I believe that the brooch (sp?) is just a piece of costume jewelry, probably circa 1950. The piece over the brooch is a plate from a harmonica. ------------ Does anyone else but me dig Hotwheels cars on a daily basis? ---------
