Another first timer with the Exp. 2....

I picked up my new Exp. 2 yesterday and I took it to a dug out spot on the way home to try it out for the first time...I ended up finding a few small misc. items and a nice union staff button...I think I'm going to really like this machine.

I've been a Whites user for years and I was really reluctant to make the plunge to get the Minelab, but I can tell in the very short time I've used it that this machine is going to suit me well. I had dowloaded the manual on it a couple of weeks ago and have been studying it so I wouldn't be totally lost on how to use it when I got it...even though I know it will take lots of practice to master it...I have found that even a novice to it will still be able to find good targets while learning the machine. I've been strictly a relic hunter for almost 30 years but with this machine I now have the urge to do some coin hunting also...lol

Thanks to everyone here for all the useful information as if it wasn't for this forum I would have never bought this machine....

Wow, that is one pretty button. I've had a few I've found around here that had a LITTLE gilt left on them but nothing like that. Very nice.

Yes, I'm going to like mine too. Very exciting machine!

Did you happen to run that in digital when you found that button? How did it come up on the Ferrous - Conductive scale?

Mike...I didn't check it in the digital mode...I was hunting in the iron mask -16.. ferrous tone...the crosshair was on the right about midway up..

You did it right by studying the manual first. Thats what I did and was familiar with it before I got it. You will Love this machine. I got frustrated with the stock coil cause I had a hard time pin pointing in trashy areas...so I tried the 7.5 coil and bingo! It still gets deep targets...I found a silver 2 reale at 8 to 9 inches and a silver ring at approx. 18 inches...it was damp sandy soil around a pond but I was amazed. Good luck..:minelab
