I brought some detecting friends to my hot spot in town. This is the lot where they dumped all of the old dirt when they re-paved main st. a few years back. This spot, for me, has produced a walking liberty half, a barber dime, and numerous wheaties and clad coins. My friends wife was using a Garrett GTAX 1000 I think? Anyways, the very first good signal she thought she had turned out to be a soda can. Later on as I was swinging back towards the vehicles I did a quick scan of her first hole. I got a nice solid signal just under the dirt. So I had her come back over and recheck the hole. Well, she had dug the silver half out of the hole and kept digging down to the can. The half was in a clump and was easy to miss if you did'nt have a probe, which she did not have. She tried to give me the half-dollar but I insisted that I might not have even detected there if she had'nt been there first.
1899 Indian Head penny was sitting on top of the dirt....the photo I took is how it looked as I walked up on it. Good times !!
