Another new guy

Through a mutual friend I met a guy called " Guvner" this past weekend. We became instant friends. After seeing nothing in the deer woods, we were back at the house for some chili and the subject of metal detecting came up. I told him I used to hunt quite a bit with a spectrum and had loaned out my detector several years ago to an ex-friend who never intended to bring it back. So I haven't done much detecting since. After talking to him for about 20 minutes he had my blood boiling again and told me about the awesome capabilities of the explorer and recommended this forum. I am amazed at how kind and helpful all these folks are, so I've decided to get back into the hobby. Guvner was kind enough to help me obtain an Explorer XS with some nice accessories and even gave me a 20 minute crash course that ended with about a 15 minute hunt in the dark this evening and I found a 1917 wheat cent.......I've got a lot to learn but I'm pumped ........ I'm looking forward to being a part of this group and hopefully posting some nice finds from time to time...

If you used a Spectrum and found stuff then go back where you used it with the Explorer. You'll be surprised what you missed, that is if someone else with and Explorer hasn't already beaten you to it. Good luck with your new/old hobby!

you have him confused with someone else:biggrin:

We do some huntin' together...G and I...and let me tell you...it isn't always such a pleasure.
Boy...could I tell you some stories...but we'll leave that for another day.

I'm sure if you tell G about this post of mine...he will fill your head full of corruption and deception...and also a few things that simply aren't true about me:crylol:

Seriously though...welcome to the forum...and "G" as I call him is a pretty good feller'....a pretty good friend...and a very talented hunter.

Maybe the 3 of us can get a hunt in sometime:)

I appreciate the welcome and hope to eventually do some hunting with some of you after I learn the basics of the machine,,,,,, I was all pumped to take the machine out today and spend some serious bonding time learning about it, and it was such a beautiful day here in southwest Missouri..... but ....... I had to go to the emergency room with a kidney stone at 4 in the morning last night..... so today I've been laying around eating pain pills, reading posts and trying not to punch holes in the wall ......... Seems to be the story of my life .....

Sort of like taking 2 aspirin for a headache. The less of him the better is good medicine. At least you already mentioned you had a supply of pain pillls and they should also help out with having Bryce around. :)

Just funnin" about Bryce... I'll have to break down and tell him what a nice guy you truely are...

See you soon Bill... (since you're so darn close to my camper..)

Oh by the way.. I left my other machine down there with Coyotewhacker so he could go out with you when you get back on your feet. I'll probably be down there over the next two weekends or at least one of them...

G..

I'm feeling good enough to run coins and junk under the coil and start getting familiar with the different sounds and read Andy Sabisch's book...It won't be long and I'll be diggin dirt.....:bouncy:
