Another oldie but goodie detector..

Wow, UW!!!!

That looks somewhat like the kit I put together back in the 60's, except mine didn't have a meter. I
don't remember exactly, but I think it was a Heathkit or something similar. Had a lot of fun with it.
The thing found a lot of coins for me, but only about 2 - 3 inches deep. The old BFO detectors had NO
discrimination so you never knew what you had until you dug it. There were coins everywhere
'cause very few had tectors back then and even a "basic" unit would get oodles of finds. As technology
increased we would go for newer tectors that would get "that extra inch of depth" so we could go over
that "played out" area again and get more of the older deeper coins. I'm thinking that they are reaching the
physical limits on how deep a detector can go without coming up with a totally new technology.

Thanks for the memories, UW!!!!!!!!!!!

That looks like the detector my Dad had when I was a teenager. I was more interested in girls and cars then. Wish I had stuck with Pop more . I'd be a better detectorist now. Onus

Yeah I'll post a pic of the Heathkit the next time. Lot of guys put those things together to get started in detecting.
