Another pic of the new pinpointer showing the sifter running the length of the shaft.

That blade running the length of the barrel is the sifter blade. It ain't what I wanted. The proto had a sifter blade on the tip of the barrel which worked great in bark chips and sifting dirt in the bottom of a hole. Gonna have to talk to Garrett. :)

Thanks for the clarification. I thought that the bottom of it may have been spoon shaped. It can be hard to tell in a picture sometimes. I'm glad that it's barrel shaped.
I hope that folks don't get the wrong idea with it and try and dig targets out of the dirt with it. It wouldn't last long under those conditions. Bark chips and sand would be OK though, so long as there wasn't much pressure applied to it. I had one of the Garret diggers once. It lasted 1.5 holes. The ground was too hard for it, combined with too much leverage.
Mick Evans.

Yeah I had hoped they would put the sifter on the end of the PP where it should be. Being on the side renders it nearly useless. I'm going to suggest that to them. They want me to write a review with any suggestions for the engineers. Other than that it's a pretty nifty PP.

Instead of a sifter maybe they could incorporate a digger into the end of the probe? Something like an inch wide by an inch long..

No it's an integral part of the barrel on the PP. I had hoped they would mold one on the tip where it would be useful.for sifting bark chips and dirt in the bottom of a hole.

The proto had that ( sifter/digger ) and I assumed it would appear on the production model. I don't know who dreamed this idea up.
