Another silver and another religious medal today

The dime was so thick with crust that I initially thought that it was a penny
But good thing I was carefull in removing the crust ...was I ever surprised to see Lady Liberty on the obverse.

Something of interest: the date "1940" was clearly visible through the encrustation, but after cleaning, the date "disappeared"...wonder what happened...did I clean the surface to hard? What would have made the date disappear like that? :(

More great finds!!! Man, you must live next to a blackhole or something, tell me if you see any socks there, I do a load and I'm always coming up short a sock. (I think my dryer has a blackhole):rofl:

I was just researching some of the beaches that I hunt at here, and I found where the land at the beach area was purchased in 1639 from the Paugassett Indian tribe by the New Haven colonists who then settled there...hmmmmmmmmmm I better get back there and find the rest of the "loot" :rofl:

You are on fire lately!!! WTG Lorraine! :)

Neat finds. One time I dug an 1865 dime, could see the date. After soaking in a relatively weak solution the date was gone. steve in so az

I'm now wondering if I should even clean away a crust from a coin such as that so that the date is obvious to anyone who may be interested;

but I love to clean the silver coins and see the shiny surface...decisions....decisions :rolleyes:
