Had a real good hunt today.:beers: 1941 quarter,1943 nickle, one wheat and 1850 bank of upper canada half penny. Its been shot and is not in very good shape, but I'll take it.

Its opening day of archery deer season tomorrow for michigan. I'm gone hunting for a day or too.

A plethora of good catches Flash!
The more time you spend in that difficult to detect area
the better you will be when you detect in less obtrusive sites.
That you find so many goodies in the mix......all icing and gravy.

May I ask where you are finding these silver spoons? Old home site? Trash pile?

I remember working in a campground in Va. and on my off time I would walk the woods adjacent to the property and found an old abandon antibellum home (columns and all) next to a corn field and a creek running through the site. Also found the dump site near the house. Man if I could get back there and search that place...I know there was old bottles and I do remember pieces of ceramic plates and all kinds of old trash. I bet this place has been buldozed and is now a subdivision.

Just for curiosity I think I wil check Google Earth and see if it may still be there.

Good luck on your finds

Don

I am detecting a old pig farm, from around the late 1800's ,early 1900's. They brought in the slop from the resterants from all around the area and feed the pigs.I have dug now,, 200-300 spoons from this place. Somewhere along the line it was also a dump site.
There are coins mixed in throughtout along with tokens.Oh and the spoons. Any thing is possible at this place. It is a huge area, 1/2 mile square, at least.

Some places that have never been touched, I just started , "sifting" or picking any thing I can pinpoint. Its not uncommon to pull 4-5 things out of the same hole. And at first is nearly impossible to seperate anything for ID(or even to dig),but as things are removed it gets a little easier.

Its a pain in the Ace , not sure if it is worth it.hmmm,,, it must be. Me and a friend hit it regular for the last 6-7 years. We have found barber halfs, quarters and dimes, indians(so many we dont know) over 15 WLHs, bufs ,mercs, SLQs, Large pennys(oldest 1850)including canadian large cents(several) and the tokens are countless(some very old)We have never found anything seated at this place.(that I can remember)

Here is a picture of the trash I (only me) took from this place in 2004. And some more spoons.

Man those pigs were eating with quality silverware and money tips.
Gongrats on the good location .Looks to keep you busy for a long time !
