Another "which one?" question for you Fisher experts

Hey guys,

I've had a CZ-6a for several years and was thinking about trying something different sometime in the next few months. I think I want to try either a Coinstrike, Excel, or Edge. I hunt old homesites which are normally pretty trashy with nails, roofing tin, jar lids, etc. Which of these three would be best for that type of hunting? I've read about them, even took the list of features and put them in a table for a side-to-side comparison but having a hard time cutting through the marketing fluff.

the market pound for pound for the money. But the ID Edge has the latest technology and has a special coins mode and such.

Now the I believe the ID Excel & ID Edge are on the same platform as far as a shorter learning curve. The Coinstrike at least for me was a good 40-50 hours before I really started understanding what it was telling me and felt very comfortable with it. Before that, I wanted to wrap it around a tree. Now it's my favorite machine.

But to me, you can't go wrong with either machine, it just depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you want to invest in learning the machine.

Some of the prices I see for used Excels are just sick....Like $250 or less even With an MSRP of $599., for those with a tight buget, the Excel used under $300 is a darn bargain. Just remember that you won't get the life warranty of the original owner. If you have more to spend, the Edge is noticeabley deeper, & I mentioned some other added features below in a post, like the notching, etc. Both the Excel/Edge will have less a learning curve as a Coinstrike....
Coinstrikes I'm also seeing for rediculously low, low prices used..like $450 even for a mega-powered unit with an MSRP of $1095. :O
Again, it's how much you want to spend, if you want a lifetime warranty, & if you want to tackle the Coinstrikes several hour learning curve or not.....

Thanks for the info Mike and Bill. I'm like you Bill, I've been surprised at what used Excels have been going for. I've considered finding a bargain on a used one and if I really liked it, trading up to an Edge. For $300 or less that's not much of a risk.

Hi Kent and I gotta tell ya that little Edge is a neat instrument. I really enjoy using it and love the fast display. It has a short learning curve and seems to be a pretty deep seeking instrument. I hope you can give one a go soon Kent. Well CU later and God Bless Kent.

Thanks Chief! You guys have convinced me to try an Excel. If I fall in love with it maybe I'll then trade up to an Edge. I'll keep my CZ-6a though. Sounds like they might complement each other.
