looked into them and went with a new laptop not the net book. As I understand it net books are for internet only not any other basic computer stuff

Netbooks don't have cd/dvd player/burners so I don't know how you download software unless you purchase an external drive. I guess you can also download from the net. From what I gather they are basically a portable web browser. My wife wants one because she saw my sister pull hers out of her purse at the hospital.
 
That's exactly what we are looking for - just basic internet access. Just wondered if anyone had any experience with them. steve

My wife got an Acer laptop 6 or 8 mo. ago was around 425 with no add ons. It has cd drive and is remarkably fast.
