There are tons of resources on the web describing coins from foreign lands and their metal composition. Wikipedia, World Coin Gallery, Ebay and on and on. I normally start with Ebay and see if somebody is trying to sell one. All it normally takes is a few clicks. Centavo coins are normally CuNi in my experience. That 1920 1/2 Franc is probably silver depending on the country of issue. That 1902 Edward coin sounds like an English Silver Thruppence also silver. They also had a coin of this denomination in some base metal too. One would really need photos or better descriptions to offer a more informed opinion.
