Any EX II users running a Pro Coil? How is it working out?

Anyone using a Pro Coil on their Explorer II? How is it working out over using the 1050 stock coil? I tried the Slimeline awhile back and was very disappointed. I'm thinking of getting the Pro Coil for the lighter weight. I've read up on the SEF 10X12 posts, but seem to feel that the Pro Coil may be a bit better on depth. Also, has the Pro Coil given a lot of "Ghost" signals with the EX II or does that only occur on the SE? Everyone's input appreciated. Thanks!

Happy Hunting!

Hi OHC,

I probably shouldn't even try to answer this because I haven't tried the Pro Coil myself, but one of my EXII mentors, RONC(OR), has been recommending it highly. He tells me that one of its advantages over the stock 1050 is its smooth operation, allowing you to really jack up the sensitivity.

In my ground, I get a lot of nulling and falsing, so I've been saving my clad and plan to pick one up as soon as I can.

Hope this "second hand" info helps.

I had a pro coil on my Ex11 last year and used it for a solid two months. It is far better than the stock coil and slimline coil. You can run the sens a couple of digits higher and still be very stable in manual sensitivity. The hotspot down the middle of the coil is razor sharp compared the the 1050. I now have a SE Pro and I have never experienced any ghost signals with the pro coil. It feels much lighter than the 1050. I think it is the best all around coil for any Explorer. R.L.

The Pro coil is good on the XSII. the Pro coil does run smooth & separates better than the 1050 plus during my testing I found that the Pro coil has a stronger pinpoint signal than the 1050 which is kinda important on the XS & XSII.. The 10X12 will in most circumstances give a better quality signal on deep iffy targets.. The ghost signal thing, I find totally opposite of what Bryce finds, Im more often chasing ghosts with the 10x12. The 10X12 also has a strong pinpont signal.. This really gets tricky in testing. Depending on what noise cancel channel your on, the best deepest/quietest detecting channel my not be the strongest pinpoint channel.. There were times when using the 1050 on a XS that I would go get my Sovereign out of the truck to pin point when I couldnt get a putt-putt outta the XS. . wildherre

Its like a new detector... you'll wonder how you ever hunted without it. More stable, tighter footprint, lighter, better ID.

I bought a pro coil about 10 months ago for my EX 11. Worked great on the beach but developed a problem about 2 weeks ago. Took it back to my local dealer where I purchased it. He contacted ML and was told that it only had a 6 mo warranty. So what I have now is an expensive piece of junk.

the "ghost signals". It shows that we all have varying opinions...and what works well....or not so well...might be completely different depending on user preference and soil conditions.
I don't use the pro coil much because the ghost signals drive me crazy...but then again I run my SE about as hot as it will go:cool:

I still use the pro coil a lot and make some nice finds with it.

Could be that the 10 x 12 handles my personal settings better than the pro coil for me in my soil conditions or site conditions. Either way... GREAT post by both of you. Thank you.
