This side reads "Louis 14th and Marie Therese by the grace of god king and queen of France and Navarre". It seems to be a medal in celebration of their marriage in about 1660.
I can't read the back properly but the sun is allegorical (good word eh) and refers to Louis 14th nickname of "The Sun King". It shows the sun causing the earth to blossom which might be a roundabout way of wishing the happy couple lots of children. Probably a bit optimistic as I think that Louis eventually had her killed.
A real bit of history you have there.

Fred

Dan,It looks like silver.I can't make out the writing. It has something to do with sombody the 14TH. If you could write the letters in a straight line and send me an e-mail then maybe I could find it in my world coin book. I don't believe it is french. It wasn't under France.

Very interesting. Any idea of age and worth. This is my friends coin and he also lives in a 1905ish house, corner lot <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)"> . Getting him excited about what could be buried in his own yard.
Thanks again,
Dan

when trying with the best of intentions to help someone out.
You can be wrong, or make mistakes but fool is a strong word.
Not many folks know (or care to know) but the word "fool" is the only one the bible mentions by name that your should never cast on someone else.
Take care, and keep on helping, that's what these boards are supposed to be for.
Best regards,
DAS
