My neighbor behind me is, and filled two deer tags a few weeks ago. He gave me about 50 lbs of venison. I've already smoked one of the shoulders. It was GREAT! I still have three more shoulders, some meat scraps to grind up, two shanks, and two racks of ribs.

I went out yesterday before work and found about 100 lbs of pecan wood. That'll go through the smoker. If I didn't have to work Thanksgiving, I might even consider smoking the turkey!

That is a blessing to get free meat. I don't go hunting any more. Too many people think they are back in Vietnam...shooting at each other...oh wait a minute that is Detroit :thumbdown:

I heard Detroit has now made #1 again for crime, Flint came in #3. What a lovely state we live in...(sarcasm).
 
Got my deer the first day (thankfully) here in New Mexico.
 
and congrats on the deer. I got mine on saturday here in Michigan. that is the third day of the season here. I hope we see more of ya here!
