Any Idea

I found this about 7 inches down in what was an old orange grove. It is some kind of trim I think and is mad of copper. It is about a foot long. Any ides would be welcome.

I'm betting since that was in a grove it was the top ring of a smudge pot. They were used to keep the fruit groves warm at night if there happen to be a cold night.
