Any ideas on how to find a lost ring owner?

I found a 1954 women's class ring. Ho w should I go about trying to find the rightful owner/ relative of owner? I've e-mailed the local high school principle hoping they could help. Just wondering what you guys would try. Goggling the name isn't a help as she was probably married after high school.

Contact the local newspapers editor, provide a good image of the ring, location of the recovery and ask them to run a human interest piece. Peace
