Just looking to se how the 7000 are working out in the feild. Got a chance to hold one but thats it seams kinda unbalanced and heavy.

I've used it a few times to check some old patches. A few more small nuggets were found but nothing big and deep. Others have had better luck. But for me, it was just too heavy, big, awkward, clumsy to use. The big loop precludes you from using it in tight areas and there are no other loops made for it. And it's WAY overpriced for all that. So, I said no thanks.

The 5000 rocks with the NEL coil as proven on my claims by Cal Gold in a spot detected by many with, and without, my permission. What a great day to see a newbie, D, find his very first detected nugget YAHOO ,spread the fever-John

The bad? Just about everything. It is fabulously expensive, very heavy, no discrimination, no accessory coils, struggles in alkali ground, washed out screen, etc.

The good? Most powerful metal detector I have ever used, puts gold in my pocket nearly every time I turn it on.

More power good but the rest I just dont like. If you mostly use it on flat ground would be ok I guess. But swinging it in the mountains ,hill sides ,,rocks ? $10,000 U.S ,,WoW you have to find alot of AU to for this bad boy.

Certainly not a machine for everyone by a long shot. It is a niche detector in a niche market segment. Mine is doing very well for me though so I am happy.

Persist with the 7000, my country is rocky, grassy and hilly, hardly a flat. Try a hipstick, its made using the 7000 in such country much easier. By far it is the best gold prospecting detector in the field for the serious prospector, my take of course. Its sensitivity to small gold, to specimen gold, its depth and the no cables wireless just make it so.

What gets me, is you have a $10,000.00 detector, that's just getting crumbs, I have not seen any big gold with it yet, My old 2200sd would find little stuff and great big stuff, Wish I still had it. Grubstake

To me the 7000 beats all Minelab PI machines handsdown, if your only getting crumbs your only putting it over crumbs. If it is only as good as or not even as good as the 2200 in your opinion, then sell it you`ll probably buy 7 or 8 2200s with the coin you get. The $10700 I spent on the GPZ was mainly for the R & D that went into giving me the best gold detector on the market, Minelab have been doing that for 20 plus years now, I thank them and have no doubt you will if you persist. Have faith it is the best.
