If it is delayed beyond mid April, it could have a pretty chilling effect on the stock price. Minelab is unique among the detector manufacturers in that it is part of a publicly traded company. If Whites, First Texas or Garrett are developing a new detector, they have no need to show anything before it is ready for sale, and have every reason not to. Pre announcing product can kill sales of existing products.
Minelab however badly needed the SD-2300 out there as early as possible. First because the price of Codan shares has plummeted, and second to try and stop folks buying Garrett ATX's. Having put the mid April date out there, they will look bad if they miss it.
It seems to be a real horse race between the SDC and Garrett's ATX. It makes you wonder if the lack of coil covers and Deep Seeker Packages for the ATX are a result of wanting to beat the SDC to market and thereby rushing the ATX release?
All this has next to nothing to do with actual prospecting - but some of us find it interesting anyway.
