Any observations on the Omega in heavy EMI ?

Some detectors really fall down in EMI, such as the newer F-series Fishers, C$, etc.

Has anyone taken their Omega to a site they previously experienced heavy EMI that caused another detector problems, and if so what were the results?

Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian...so somewhere in that 2 hour conversation, did you get this question answered?   Good chattin' with ya, Bud.

Hey it was only an hour and a half, that's like saying that barber dime was 10" deep :poke: Good chatin' with you too bud :detecting:

BTW I might just have a deal sealed on an OMEGA

I suspect there's this little bug starting to crawl around inside him so it could happen. ;)

Evidently I didn't refresh the screen so when I replied to Blacktoe about you, Brian, I didn't see this post yet. Oops! OK, only an hour and a half but we never even touched base on the cigar field. Do we have it bad or what?!

Looks like that Omega is shipping today

Now when is that new 11" DD coil shipping?

Crosby from my conversation with Buckeye it sounds like it's as susceptible to EMI as the F70/75. I'll test it out when I get it and report back. What was the name of that park we hit that had the amphitheater, the old house, and the little pond ? That was pretty full of EMI IIRC.

Brian,
I didn't mean to say or imply that it is equally susceptable. Several things are different. The Omega doesn't seem to have the software induced variations of gain like that of the 75 and T-2 for example. Nice simple linear "analog like" sensitivity control which makes it easier to contend with any EMI that could be present. Yesterday I was actually at a site that I could run the Omega wide open for the first time so it is possible. But like I told you on the phone, the depth and ease of hearing coins when running in the high 50's and low 60's is equal to or better than more expensive competitors detectors running higher levels of gain. Predictable, simple to operate, deep, great audio tones with a LOT of target info in them, light and ergonomically as good as it gets, while displaying lots of key target information that isn't just "bells and whistles", and allows you to hunt at a pace without audio fatigue that will cover more ground than most anything else out there, all the while with a user interface that is a virtual masterpiece. I'm glad you're making it happen so you can see for yourself. Looking forward to your take.

Brad thanks for the clarification, that's positive news.

For some of the areas I hunt, nothing has a negative impact more them EMI. IF Fisher/Teknetics would seriously work on reducing the effects of EMI on their potential deep seekers, it would unlock a lot of previously unhuntable areas more then any other single inhibitor.

So when's that 11" DD coming ?

HH,
Brian
