Hello I'm new on site, huge rock hound anyway this one here has got me boggling in every direction and was hoping I might get some advice on what it could be. It's very dense, and has a unique structure about it. If you need any thing please don't hesitate, I will do my best asap. Thanks

Never actually held a meteor but could it be????

I don't think so. Meteors are smooth with "finger prints" on the outside and no voids on the inside. When cut, they show shiny nickel deposits.

In the photos above you see little half round holes all over on outside of stone. Little blue crystals as shown below same as the little round things on the cutt face had fallen out while we were cleaning it. This stone sat under my tree for almost 20 years out back before I decited to cut open with my daughter. So who knows exactly how many are laying in my yard next to tree, we were able to save few after they were noticed.

I am trying to figure out if your close-up pictures are showing little elongated (lath shaped) translucent crystals or stretched pores. I am guessing they are crystals.

Are these stones native to your area, or were they transplanted from elsewhere?

As for the bluish mineral, my first guesses are glaucophane, kyanite, or azurite. All can occur with magnitite, but in different situations. Unfortunately, mineral identification is generally easier in person.

A geology department at a local university might be able to more positively identify this specimen.

What I remember is that my boss handed it to me thinking it was a thunderegg. At the time we were starting a private logging sale in cow cr. In owyhee mt range, near Idaho / Oregon boarder. As land owners granted us keep what u find , that is where most of my big stones have came from. I'm sure he found it there due to fact he don't pack things around. I asked once and he couldn't remember. Native idk, sorry.

Well, it definitely is not a Thunderegg. I have a tub of those from Richardson’s and the Prineville general vicinity. Given your area, I would say the rock is probably igneous in origin. I would want to get a closer look at it with a magnifying glass to have a better guess at what kind of igneous rock. Some of the pictures make me think ash flow tuff, but that doesn’t seem to really fit in my mind. Still, given the general provenance, I would revise my guess on the blue mineral. If the blue mineral is generally comprised of radiating needles or spars, then I would say it is a zeolite.

Thanks for input, I'm still having trouble finding a place or someone to hold it for evaluation. Our university is too busy and said it would be a month or longer. Thanks for onsite everyone I will keep on looking and hope other opinions are still coming in.
