any tips when switching coils?

when I switch coils I have the worse time trying to get the cord up the upper shaft, I have the extra lower shaft on both my coils so at least I don't have to go up both of them. It just seems everytime I switch coils I struggle with that, and wondered if there was any tricks to make it easier?

I carry a piece of string and pull it up in there. Only have had problems with one SEF cord so that is not to bad. Sometimes have to pull the string while turning the shaft .

As Terry R says .....Take a piece of string, and tie it just a bit under the screw on connector ......Run the sring thru the shaft , and then take both ends of the coil wire and pull it slightly to straighten out the coil wire a bit ....It will feed easily into the shaft ......Jim

I'm using a SunRay probe plus I have all of my coils mounted to lower shafts with velcro straps holding the cables onto those shaft. Switching is just a matter of unscrewing the connector, sliding the current shaft out, sliding the next shaft back in and threading the cable connector back onto the probe switch housing.

Terrie this is the easiest way. No strings required. I figured this out myself. Put the coil on your 2 shafts and feed the end in. Take the shaft close to the coil in your hand and wave the oppisite end towrd the ground like a magic wand vigerously. With a flick and it will come out. Normally it will catch the inner wall of the shaft as it trys to go back in. Grab it like a snake LOL It is quick an easy. Scott

the minelab pro coil goes right thru, but the SEF coil gives me the trouble, it looks like the cord is a tad thicker

I wouldnt frustrate myself with the sef coil so you should sell it to me.:)

I never put the cord up the shaft because I switch coils from time to time. I just wrap it around the outside of the shaft. It makes changing coils a lot easier.

I don't believe he has a SunRay probe connected to his machine so he must thread the cord up through the shafts.
