Anyone give the Apex a good work out to see if its a reliable machine. I'm thinking about giving mine to my grand daughter as a begginer.

Well, I have found many rings, silver coins and plenty clad. It might be a great choice for your grand daughter. It's light Well-Balanced Only 2.5 Pounds. Easy to use. Some pre-set programs for simplicity, yet has new technology to even tweak it up more for gold and silver targets. Any new technology? Coming..................................

If you have one, you ought to put it to use more yourself to see just how reliable the Apex can be. The Apex is my primary-use detectors and I own 3, keeping a different coil mounted on each to better tackle an encountered site. I hunt a wide-variety of sites and when the weather allowed me to get out more I was really impressed at how simple the Apex is to set-up and the performance it provides.

There is no such thing as a 'perfect' detector, but there have been and are several that I consider to be very good picks as a multi-purpose detector, and for me, the Apex is my main one these days.
