Anybody ever hear of a modified Goldmaster II

Hi Folks

I posted a question on the Whites forum and thought I would post it over here to, since this is the prospecting forum.

Last week I bought a Goldmaster II and a Goldmaster V-SAT at a sale, both machines work great, but the strange thing is the Goldmaster II has been modified. The area on the front where the S.A.T. switch is located should say X-GND, PP, S.A.T., but this one is BOOST, PP, S.A.T., when I took the cover off I can tell that there has been some rewiring and it looks like it was done by someone that knew what they were doing. I am just wondering what kind of modification it is, anybody have any ideas on what kind of mod's have been done to the old Goldmasters, one thing that I can say is it is smoking hot on small gold. I am not complaining about the machine, I have always loved the old GM's, this one is 15 years old and still going strong.

On the original early goldmaster II that switch was labeled RESET. PP. SAT and the reset was momentary and you pushed it left and it sprung back to center. Some folks found that by holding the switch to the left it worked better in bad ground so the switch was replaced by a three position switch and the left position was relabled x-gnd salt. I replaced the switch on one of mine but never relabled it. I just put it in the reset position when I needed to and it worked great. Probably the "boost" may be the same as what I did or other cicuits were added?

The GM II that I have when you throw the switch to the left, it stays there and the original was spring loaded. When it is switched to the left, it is a good 1.5" to 2" better depth, hey that can make a big difference when you are nugget hunting.

I wonder if Mr. Bill modified any GM's, I have had a couple of his modified IDX's and they were hot on coins. Maybe he did his MOJO on the old GM's.
