The apartment manager, of the complex I reside at, is talking about putting in a raised garden, if corporate agrees to it. It would be wonderful to have fresh veggies.

Seeing as we've had 15 inches of rain in as many days, we are enjoying a swamp instead of a yard and garden. We ALWAYS have a garden out by now. The poor local farmers are in a heap of trouble. Even if the rain were to end today (and it's not supposed to), it will take a couple weeks to dry out for planting.

I do. Im trying to take care of our family by choosing to plant more healthy this year. As God says, our body's are the Temple of the Holy Spirit so I am doing all I can to make it a clean living space for Him. So I'm growing all Non GMO foods this year in my garden. I found a great resource for open pollinated heirloom seeds. You can find it here. I love exotic and odd plants and this site has some. They even have more variety in their catalog. Since I've moved out more to the country I can have a large garden. I have a 30x30 spot for my corn and 4 spots that are 6'x40' where I'll grow my Orangelo watermelons (they're orange inside), pole beans, bush beans, 6 different tomato kinds (25ish plants) zucchini squash, lemon squash, some kind of weird white squash, hmm maybe i should take it easy on the squash... I don't even like it that much lol. But I love to grow stuff, anything! My wife makes fun of me cause anything with a seed in it i'll try to plant. Lots of greens (kale, rape, turnip, mustard, collards, spinach), cucumbers, cantaloupe, beets, eggplant, pumpkins (for the kids), and bell peppers... I think that's all lol. There will probably be more. Oh and the fruit! Grape vines, 2 pomegranate trees, and 4 blueberry bushes added this year. :clapping: I love Gods great outdoors! Imagine the things we'll grow in the New Earth! Oh boy now there's something to ponder~!

I remember helping take care of and then canning veggies from our garden while a child on the farm! I really like fresh grown produce that the local farmers sell....Tomatoes and etc taste so much better when not grown, picked green and shipped from far off. The farmers in IL cross the MS river from me can't plant as yet, or if they have, the rains and flooding have destroyed their tomato plants and others! Will raise the prices of food along with sky high gas prices! Talked to my son and he said it cost him $40.00 to get 3/4 tank of gas today...he like most people is suffering from the poor economy!

May our Lord bless you and yours with a fantastic year of produce that is wholesome and good tasting for eating lots of it to have the right nourishment for both body and mind! Amen! Ma Betty

Hey sunbeard...have you tried the pineapple tomato variety? We put a few plants out last year for the first time. The flavor and size of the fruits was outstanding. My all time favorite has always been brandywine, but pineapple is actually better.
