Anybody have a home remedie for cold soars, been getting them all my life :( have had these on my upper lip for two weeks now :surrender:

Cold sores? Don't fret. The best home remedies for cold sore can easily be found lying around your house.

Cold sore is a common disease that has affected 80 to 90 percent of the American population. It can affect different parts of the body but most of the time the symptoms manifest themselves on the buccal or mouth area. The disease can stay dormant for a long time until a stimulus triggers and activates it. A person may be caught unguarded which could pose a lot of problems. However, there is no need to panic since the best home remedies for cold sore are common items in the household.

The most common spice around the house would be garlic. And garlic, as it turns out, is one of the best household items that can be used to remedy cold sore and its symptoms. It is also effective in healing wounds such as blisters. Another common yet very active household item is salt. Just mix salt with water and use it for gargling.

This next household item may not be that common but is certainly on of the best home remedies for cold sore. This item is the tea bag. You can use warm tea bag for warm compress on the affected area. Another household item, ice, can use to relieve soreness

I have the same problem. Cold sores are a little gift from ever having Chickenpox, that's why about 90% of Americans have the virus that causes cold sores even tho some may never get cold sores. Unfortunately sometimes the problem gets worse with age, and may lead to Shingles, cause our immune system weakens as we get older. I have tried all the home remedies and herbs, none seem to work very well or not at all. There are two things however that I have found that will work. First if you get a cold sore, get a tub of "Abreva", it definitely will shorten the life of the blistering, but that is the only O.T.C. medication I have found that works, and I have tried them all. Second, ask you doc. to wright you a RX for "Famciclovir" or one of the other brands. If you take it when you first feel a cold sore coming on, it will usually stop it in it's tracks, but if you wait to late, even that won't work. If you try a RX, remember timing is everything. Hope this helps, good luck.:beers:

There are two main types of herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV type 1 viruses mostly cause sores around the mouth, but they can also cause lesions inside the mouth and on other parts of the skin. The other type are HSV type 2 viruses which cause most genital herpes.
The virus that causes chicken pox and shingles is also a herpes virus (herpes zoster virus), but cold sores cannot cause chicken pox or shingles, and chicken pox do not cause cold sores.
